Trash and Recycle Handling
Trash Handling
One of the amenities residents of Saddle Ridge enjoy is that their annual assessment covers the cost of weekly trash and recycling pick-up. We have established a trash and recycling building located at the Barn on Chilhowee Loop Road. It looks like a small green barn and has a set of double doors on the front. We ask that only tied bags of household trash be disposed of in the building.
Large trash items such as building materials, furniture, paint and/or chemical cans, etc. should be disposed of at the County Landfill (see Blount County Landfill information at the end of this page or refer to the Local Links page on this website).
Trash pick-up is on Mondays, normally in the early morning. Household trash should be placed in leak-proof tied bags and placed in the building as late in the week as possible, preferable Sunday evening at the latest. Place bagged trash as far to the rear of the building as possible. Do not leave trash outside of the building and upon exiting, close the door securely and double check to make sure the door is tightly latched. Bear and other wildlife are opportunists and will at every opportunity establish a feeding ground which harms everyone!
Recycling
In addition to trash pick up, recycling is available at Saddle Ridge. Six large recycling containers are located in the trash building. Place your recycling item(s) in the bin labeled for that item. Materials currently accepted (subject to change by regulation or available with recycling receiver):
~ Broken down (flattened) cardboard
(The flattened cardboard can be placed beside or in back of the bins, in order
to create more room in the bins.)
~ Newspaper, magazines and other bulk paper
~ Aluminum cans and metal cans
~ Plastic bottles and containers
** Please ensure that materials are as clean as possible to control vermin. **
For more information about recycling see Keep Blount Beautiful.
