I've lived in Saddle Ridge since 2014 and never stop marveling that I can walk out my front door and take a walk in these beautiful woods. I'm retired and loving it, after a 30+ year career working with animals and conservation programs at zoos in Texas, New York, Florida and California. Serving on the SRPOA Board and participating in community events has been a great way to get to know neighbors. I also served on the Board from 2015-2021.

We always knew we would return to East Tennessee. Smitty grew up in Maryville. We bought our Saddle Ridge home in 2010 and moved in fulltime in 2014. I retired as an English professor teaching technical communication. Walking our dogs in the woods with family and friends fill our days in the mountains. I do go down the mountain to volunteer for the Blount County Friends of the Library.

My husband Tom and I have always cherished our mountain getaways, often dreaming of one day calling the mountains home. In 2023, we made that dream a reality by relocating to Tennessee, where we found the perfect place to build in the peaceful, scenic community of Saddle Ridge. We are proud to call this our forever home. I work remotely for a developer and construction company based in Indiana, which gives me the best of both worlds - staying connected to work while enjoying the mountain life we always wanted.

My husband (Michael Gass) and I moved to Saddle Ridge in 2021 and have loved making this beautiful place our home. I will retire in December of 2026 from my role leading a consortium of Appalachian colleges and universities. I enjoy working with others to ensure that Saddle Ridge continues to be a safe and beautiful place for all of us. In addition to serving on the Saddle Ridge Board, I chair our FireWise Committee and am a member of the Townsend Art Guild.

My wife Lisa and I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and have always had a love for the mountains, national parks, wildlife, and photography. Upon retiring, we made Saddle Ridge our permanent home and couldn't be happier. We look foward to spending the rest of our years in this wonderful spot.
