Shannon Lydic
Board Member since 2023, President
After years of travel and adventure, my husband, Bob, and I found our dream retirement location here in East TN and moved to Saddle Ridge in 2019. Prior to this, I worked as a technical writer & editor, private flute instructor, homeschool mom, and textiles crafter. I currently perform with both local flute choirs, am a member of the area weaving guild, and do volunteer demonstrations at the GSM Heritage Center in Townsend. We love the peace and beauty of nature right outside our door and are inspired by it in all of our creative endeavors. I am grateful to have been welcomed into this wonderful place and look forward to contributing to the good that is Saddle Ridge.

Beth Rushing and I moved to Saddle Ridge in 2021 to move closer to friends and family in East Tennessee. Beth is the President of the Appalachian College Association, and travels regularly to visit member institutions in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia throughout the year. I work from home as an IT and data management consultant for higher education. We love daily rambles in the neighborhood with our dogs Ricky and Bobby. We have two grown daughters and four grandchildren.

Board Member since 2020, Treasurer
Tom, my husband, and I have always loved the mountains. After retiring from the accounting business that I had started when our first child was born, Tom and I were both ready for a change. Moving to Saddle Ridge was one of the best decisions we have made. Our adult children think so too.

Board Member since 2021, Secretary
We always knew we would return to East Tennessee. Smitty grew up in Maryville. We bought our Saddle Ridge home in 2010 and moved in fulltime in 2014. I retired as an English professor teaching technical communication. Walking our dogs in the woods with family and friends fill our days in the mountains. I do go down the mountain to volunteer for the Blount County Friends of the Library.

I relocated from Thompsons Station, TN to Saddle Ridge in 2022. I presently work at Blount Memorial Hospital. As well, I also own a post construction cleaning business doing new construction cleans and short-term rentals. I am a nature lover and explore the great outdoors one trail at a time.

As a child I always enjoyed visiting my cousins in Gatlinburg and fell in love with the mountains. Mary and I vacationed here several times before purchasing our property in Saddle Ridge in 2005. When our Pensacola business sold in 2010 we decided to move here permanently. The second best decision of my life.

My husband, Carl, and I are from this area. We both have always loved the mountains. We looked at property in Saddle Ridge for years before having the opportunity to buy. We both work in Knoxville. I work at 21st Mortgage and Carl works at FirstBank. With our jobs, the timing isn't right for us to live in Saddle Ridge, but we love to visit our property and the people are wonderful.

My wife Lisa and I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and have always had a love for the mountains, national parks, wildlife, and photography. Upon retiring, we made Saddle Ridge our permanent home and couldn't be happier. We look foward to spending the rest of our years in this wonderful spot.

We have lived in Saddle Ridge since 2004 and are fortunate to have had the opportunity to raise our son and daughter in the mountains and Saddle Ridge community. I am a biologist by training and have over 30 years experience in conservation. I currently serve as the director of the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy. We love spending time outdoors with family, friends, and our furry pals.
