Parking Guidelines

The Saddle Ridge covenants and restrictions (#15) require adequate off-road parking for two vehicles at each residence. Because of this requirement, there should be no parking near the entrance to Saddle Ridge or in other areas around Saddle Ridge.

However, sometimes there may be a need to park elsewhere than at someone’s home. Such conditions could include:

·     Visits from friends driving a vehicle that cannot be driven to the host’s home.
·     Inclement weather preventing driving a vehicle to one’s home due to snowy or icy conditions.

When such events occur, the SRPOA owner should notify the Board (via e-mail at saddleridgepoa@gmail.com) so that the Board may respond to inquiries regarding why someone is parking in SRPOA common areas.

Property owners should be aware that parking near the entrance to Saddle Ridge can be hazardous to the vehicle owner as well as others driving their vehicle into the area. Snowy or icy conditions could cause a vehicle be collide with a parked vehicle. Rocks kicked up by a vehicle could hit a parked vehicle. Parking anywhere other than at your residence also causes problems during road maintenance and mowing in the common areas.

Therefore, should one of the above conditions exist, the Board encourages property owners needing to park in another area should do one of the following:

·     The best place to park – other than at your residence is in the barn area.  Traffic here is much more limited, and there is much less chance of damaging either the parked vehicle or others entering Saddle Ridge. Still, there is mowing and maintenance being done in this area, so other issues still exist.
·     If you absolutely must park near the gate, park only on Chilhowee Loop Road on the hill side of the road. There are wide spots on that side of the road that allow for limited parking. One should NOT park on the lake (or grassy) side of Chilhowee Loop Road or Waters End Road, nor in front of the flag near the entrance.

In any event, extended parking at any site other than at one’s home must be discouraged for the safety of all Saddle Ridge residents and guests and to preserve the natural beauty of the Saddle Ridge community.
